Can I prebook my appointment with a Doctor more than 2 days ahead?

The answer to the question is YES, you can prebook an appointment with any doctor more than 2 days ahead.

The reason for asking you this question is because the Department of Health send out national Patient Experience Survey questionnaire to patients four times a year. The questionnaire covers many areas of healthcare and includes two questions on appointments:

Were you able to obtain a consultation with a GP within 2 working days?

Were you able to book an appointment with a GP more than 2 days ahead?

  • You can prebook some appointments with any GP up to 3 weeks in advance. For all other appointments please ring on the day you want to be seen.
  • You can ask to speak to a doctor on duty throughout the day just give a brief description of the nature of your call to the receptionist
  • You can prebook all appointments with a nurse or Health Care Assistant up to 2 weeks in advance

Thank you for your cooperation.
