Teaching Commitments

We are a long established training practice. We have an attached GP Registrar working alongside the GP’s in the practice at our The Stonebow surgery. The registrar is a fully qualified medical practitioner who is now doing the extra training required for the speciality of General Practice. He or she will usually have completed recent posts in hospital specialities. Their training is supervised by the trainer, Dr David Fair, who is dedicated to ensure the registrar reaches a satisfactory level of competence to be a GP in his or her own right. Registrars are attached to the practice for either 6 or 12 months. Part of the training involves making videos of consultations, which are discussed with the trainer. If you are ever involved with this as a patient you are perfectly free to refuse and withhold your consent without any detriment to your medical care.

Since 2005 we have also educated medical students from Hull-York Medical School (“HYMS”). The student in on GP consultations and sometimes see patients on their own. You will always be asked beforehand if this is acceptable and you may ask for the student to withdraw if you prefer to have your consultation in private. They are bound by the same rules of medical confidentiality as qualified doctors.
